UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS STUDENT SOCIETY (UTIRS)

In 2018, the University of Toronto Scarborough hosted a Model United Nations conference entitled Scarborough Model United Nations Conference (SMUNC) which has since developed into an integrated society, now known as University of Toronto International Relations Society (UTIRS). Here at the University of Toronto Scarborough we host two conferences annually, Scarborough Model United Nations Conference (SMUNC) for high school students, and the Canadian Diplomatic Invitational (CDI) for post-secondary students. As of 2021, we are also home to a newly created travelling team to participate in Model United Nations conferences across North America

Dear Delegates, Staffers, Partners, and Advisors,

It is my honor to welcome you to our fourth annual Model United Nations for secondary school students and second annual under-graduate Model United Nations hosted here at the University of Toronto, Scarborough campus. The University of Toronto International Relations Student Society (UTIRS) Secretariat and staff have been working diligently to provide an experience to remember filled with pressing global concerns, fascinating international challenges and hopefully, creative and effective solutions.

As COVID-19 restrictions are being slowly lifted in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, we hope to host our events in-person, at our campus in the spring of 2022. The health and safety of all our attendees will be our top priority, and thus we will closely follow all the restrictions and guidelines set forth by the university. With this in mind, there is a possibility that we may move to a virtual format to host our conferences.

Registration will open for our undergraduate conference, the Canadian Diplomatic Invitational (CDI), on December 15th, and for our secondary school conference, Scarborough Model United Nations Conference (SMUNC), on January 15th. If you have any additional comments, questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to me, or my team at utirs.utsc@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Nicole Ly
